Hi Eds. Any news on the American takeover. Is it still a possibility?

llamedossaint

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything noew but there are several groups looking to invest in Premier League clubs.}

08 Aug 2019 07:47:46
Heard of any last minute incomiings Eds?!

llamedossaint

{Ed002's Note - Charlie Austin is expected to go and I would not be shocked if a full back were to arrive, perhaps on loan.}

1.) 08 Aug 2019 10:19:54
Cheers. no centre backs tho? Guess Ralph is trusting what he has. Just would have liked a more secure head but those players are not leaving, clubs I suppose. everyone wants them! 😬.

2.) 08 Aug 2019 10:23:04
God I hope it's a left back. I'd take Bertie back on the left side of a back three again if it means having a stable defense. Should've never let Targett go.

3.) 08 Aug 2019 10:29:07
Is this full back talk because we have a potential buyer for Cedric with some sustenance in Europe Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t understand what you mean about “sustenance”. But there is a potential buyer for Cedric in Monaco.}

4.) 08 Aug 2019 14:43:26
Ed0002, is the full back the one from Spurs? Kyle Walker-Pieters?

{Ed002's Note - He is an option.}

5.) 08 Aug 2019 15:40:22
Charlie gone to West Brom.

6.) 27 Aug 2019 17:11:33
Liam, I’m lovin’ your Lego man profile picture thingy. Class!

27 Dec 2018 22:09:16
Is it time to get hassenhuttel out yet😬.

09 Aug 2018 17:13:40
A little underwhelming but not the worst. Just have to hope gabbi and Charlie stay fit I suppose. Here's to the new season!

llamedossaint

{Ed001's Note - Danny Ings is on the way mate.}

1.) 09 Aug 2018 17:32:08
Deal sheet in. Ings on his way to Soton. Source:bbc sport transfer day feed.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 18:11:45
Well to be fair to the club with ings on loan this has been a pretty successful transfer window. We look to have strengthened in the right areas and with Hughes in charge this could be an enjoyable season. loaning Ings is the right way for the player and us because this try before you buy scheme was the only way anyone could possibly contemplate taking him . So for me the club get 8.5 out of 10 so COYR let's take Burnley after their Europa travels on Sunday all the best for the season guys regards vs.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 20:52:31
Thanks ed. Hadn't heard about ings! Not bad loan deal. COYS!

{Ed0333's Note - how does it feel to get a player from Liverpool instead of the other way round. Shame you couldn’t take Clyne and Lalana back mate.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 20:59:59
If we can get zings to play for us as he played at Burnley playing off either Austin or Gabbiadini we’ll have made a good move. Not entirely sure why we didn’t just get on with it and sort this all out a lot earlier.

5.) 10 Aug 2018 16:26:56
Get rid of jay Rodriguez who was far better than Ings before his long term injury and sign Danny ings who's now in the exact same position for 20 mil after signing Monaco's 4th choice striker for 20 mil also. maybe we should of just kept Rodriguez and saved ourselves 40 million pound. Southampton have undone everything good they have done in about 2 seasons. And I'll be amazed if we stay up. On the brightside Shane long Charlie Austin and Danny ings might hit double figures combined this season, league starts that is days out injured I expect their smash treble.

6.) 11 Aug 2018 03:37:56
Loving the positivity SRG!

7.) 12 Aug 2018 15:38:55
Not being negative but I would just wish Redmond would take a few chances and stretch their defences a bit more
He’s got the ability but lacks the confidence
Anyway a point against a solid Burnley isn’t the end of the world.

8.) 12 Aug 2018 22:10:11
Completely agree Diggy, but I actually thought he did a better job of that today than he did last year. He seemed a lot more direct when he got the ball.

9.) 13 Aug 2018 20:25:14
Ings was immense apart from one offside he did nothing wrong. Redmond was much better but beats three then checks watch sterling goes till the end good or bad Vestergaard got better through the game much better with 4 at the back and Stephens more than capable at rb in back 4. Austin and redmond either need to close properly or not bother thought CA was very poor surprising full ore season with no reported jiggles would rather see big Sam start.

28 Aug 2017 08:57:13
Perhaps u can help eds. What is it the club hope to gain by keeping vvd? Surely he won't play for us anyway if we keep him and if he does I can't see it will be with any conviction on his part. I know he could go to a club that is not Liverpool, but given their stance even selling to anyone would make a mockery of thier current statements. How does either side come out saving face?

llamedossaint

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool and, in particular Klopp, are totally responsible for the damage that has been done and the situation Southampton and the player find themselves in. I cannot personally see a way back for the player or the club and would expect him to move on this week.}

1.) 28 Aug 2017 11:06:04
Thanks ed. I agree he needs to move on now but just can't understand why club are sticking to the 'not going anywhere' story when they must know he needs to leave too. Surely it will make us look weak? Why not just be honest and say will be going? Does our current stance increase his value?

{Ed002's Note - No clubs think about other clubs "looking weak" just like they don't care about "statements of intent" or any such thing. This makes no difference to his value.}

2.) 28 Aug 2017 17:05:56
Thanks for thoughts ed! Personally I just want the saga to end. It seems like it has dragged on and perhaps scuppered other transfer opportunity we might have had with the income.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 19:27:53
World Cup next year, can't see him being picked if he hasn't played the entire season. He's on a very long contract, the club has all the power and it's nice to see them not being bullied into selling for once. I expect him to stay and apologise and play again.

4.) 28 Aug 2017 19:45:16
Will fetch more in January.

5.) 28 Aug 2017 21:11:26
Spoke to an ex saints player 2 weeks ago and he had spent the whole Friday at saints. Won't name him but I was on a flight to Guernsey he stated categorically that VVD was not for sale this window and would NOT be going to Liverpool- clearly money talks but that was the clubs stance and appears to remain so. Why would anyone sign for a manager who appears to think he is bigger than the players the way they have treated sakho and mignonette seems appalling and basically bullying in any other workplace. Also why would anyone want a player who has basically been on strike twice at two clubs comes across ok but appears to be a merchant banker.

6.) 29 Aug 2017 09:58:21
Saints0001 I agree with you but also why would we want a player who has basically been on strike twice and appears to be a merchant banker.

Given the news out of Newcastle any takeover rumours around Saints Eds?

llamedossaint

02 Oct 2021 23:20:33
Not posted for a long while. I am so disheartened as a Saints fan, but while I agree maybe it's time for Ralph to go we may need to careful. Realistically who would we get in that's better? Not sure Eddie would choose anyone different as we are playing arguably our best team bar a couple and who would want us where we are now. Today we were undone by spineless refereeing as a draw was looking odds on the way we were playing at the time (imho) .

Am I the only one who kinda hopes we go down because its what we deserve. Another capitulation. I can only hope that those around us show a little fight as we do. struggling to want to watch us for the rest of season.

llamedossaint

1.) 21 Apr 2021 23:22:35
In answer to your question - yes you are the only one who wants us to go down, not least because it would probably take us many years to get back up.
Bewildered by Ralph’s substitutions - bringing Diallo on was just stupid. Redmond - pointless. We turned offence into defence and the inevitable happens.
Please Ralph - just go. why you still hold the respect of most of us. You’re done my friend - nice guy but inadequate at this level.
On the plus side - so good to see Bertrand not playing.

2.) 21 Apr 2021 23:50:43
One last thing - hopefully Ralph learnt a lot from the vastly experienced Spurs manager tonight.

3.) 22 Apr 2021 00:51:58
I hope that we don't go down because I fear that we would never return.

4.) 22 Apr 2021 00:58:22
Shame- Good Effort - So Close. I think maybe Ralph should be exonerated from any blame from the Spurs result as he at least made the changes many of us have been calling for. but alas “YOU CANNOT MAKE A SILK PURSE OUT OF A SOW’S EAR”!

5.) 22 Apr 2021 12:30:09
Likewise you cannot replace our top striker with a holding/ defensive midfielder. The system was working ok until Danny went off. Why didn't he bring on Nlundulu and keep the same shape.

6.) 23 Apr 2021 17:10:17
Bringing on Diallo really confused me. I think Spurs knew from then knew we wanted to ‘play out the game’. They also knew we weren’t good enough to do that, so just went for it. I think everyone knew we’d lose after that substitution.

7.) 24 Apr 2021 12:58:50
How right you are! And to a lesser extent Redmond.
He and Walcott flatter to deceive and their ability falls well short of their egos.
At least Armstrong is an honest player - never stops trying and just lacks that bit of quality and pace to be a top player.

23 Feb 2021 23:25:46
I know we think Ralph is amazing but surely we need a plan b or this is going to get problematic. If he doesn't have the players for the system try a new system with what is available. Really hope I'm wrong but worried for Everton game and Sheffield Utd has suddenly become a must win esp with Fulham form.

However we would be silly not to take the money if he is set on leaving free in the summer.

Agree Ed. However think Ralph could do more to change system to accommodate those incoming rather than play out of position. Like I've said before can't understand why we let full back cover out on loan.

llamedossaint

{Ed077's Note - You could always try and do better but seriously the squad at the disposal for Ralph isn't that great and like you stated, some of the players allowed to let go out on loan is a bit perplexing}
